Dianne Gates Williams
After graduation I went to Wichita U, met my husband Joe Williams, graduate of Kapaun, and got my MRS degree. We got married and he was hired by Southwestern Bell and we were then transferred to Dodge City. After Dodge City we were transferred to Amarillo and then to Kansas City, MO and finally Houston. Along the way, we had four children: Joe Jr., Al, Amalia and John. My husband was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in '86 and I decided it was best for me to start working in case something happened to him and he was unable to work. I hired on as a bookkeeper for the rest of my working career. Joe retired from Southwestern Bell in '91 at the age of 48 and I kept working. Bridge is my passion and I play at least three times a week. I have six grandchildren. The oldest is graduating from college next May, the second oldest is graduating from high school next May and the rest are still in grade school. We, in '89, accepted a foreign exchange student from Brazil, Jane Brito, and she adopted us. The next year - before the oldest grandchild was born - we went to Brazil and met her family and we have been to Brazil at least four times. Jane regularly visits and has since purchased a home here in the US. Joe and I will be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary next year. Life is good and we are happy!
