Mount Carmel Class of 61 50 Year Reunion

On September 9, 2011 the final graduating class of the original Mount Carmel Academy, Class of  '61 met  in Wichita Kansas  for their 50th year reunion.  The reunion was held at the home of Kathy Coffee O'Shaughnessy.  16 members of the class attended.  It was a great time to renew friendships and catch up on what has happened over the past 50 years.   After a few hours with the girls it was decided it was time to “crash” the guys party going on next door.

The following evening a co-ed party for Kapaun, Mount Carmel, St. Mary's and Sacred Heart, was held at the "Pump House" a restaurant bar in Old Town Wichita that is  owned by Jim Ross a 1961 Kapaun Graduate.  Getting together with everyone was wonderful.
Many of the girls from Mount Carmel felt that there was not enough time to get to talk to everyone and find out how their life had evolved.  This blog will help with that by giving each member of the class of 1961 a chance to give her life story as it played out over the years.

Every one who attended Mount Carmel Acedemy as the class of 1961 is invited to add their post to this blog.

Wanted to let you know how much I appreciated the card signed by everyone; it brought tears to my eyes - I wanted to join all of you so bad. Also, wanted you to know about Issac; the doctors told us 2 weeks ago that his cancer had spread throughout his body; so the chemo has stopped and he is on a feeding tube. We were told he has 2 to 3 months left. We are all in shock but know that God is in charge and believe He knows what is best for our Issac. Make a Wish Foundation has been notified and they are granting Issac's wish to go to New York and then get on cruise ship for children and families. Issac wants to see the statue of liberty and empire state building and then wants to cruise on the ocean to see if it is as blue as he thinks it is. He is such a remarkable 11 yr. old boy he just amazes me. I have been praying that he goes as painless as possible; he has good days and then bad days. It's just still so hard to believe its happening.
On a good note my son, Jeff and his wife are expecting their first baby next week; I am so happy about that because i have nine grandsons and she will be my first granddaughter.
Can you tell my emotions are so up and down.
Gotta get back to work but hope to talk to you soon,
    Hugs,
    Mary Ann

"Our precious Issac passed away Friday around 4:00; He died in his mothers arms. We are so thankful that he is finally with God and his awful pain is gone. He touched so many peoples lives and he will be missed."
